Learning Resources Center

It is a school facility that ensures providing an enriching learning environment and contains multiple types of academic resources that are closely related to the curriculum. The Center’s main objective is to provide students with a place to study, to acquire skills and develop them, to build up experiences, to locate academic resources, or to use a computer to work on a project using modern learning methods.

 

  • Objectives of the Learning Resources Center:
  1. Providing various educational options that are not available in standard study places.
  2. Providing students with an opportunity for self-learning.
  3. Meeting students’ needs taking into account their individual differences.
  4. Offering the students new interests and discovering their skills and abilities.
  5. Developing students’ ability to obtain information from different sources.

  • The Rules of Learning Resources Center:
  1. Entry and exit to/from the center should be done quietly and in order.
  2. Sit on the seats provided in the Sitting Area.
  3. Avoid causing damage to any of the Center’s property.
  4. Adhere to the librarian’s instructions.
  5. Avoid eating or drinking while at the Center.
  6. Leave school bags outside the center, adhere to the system of the Center, maintain order, and do not leave your personal belongings unattended at the Center.
  7. When using the computers at the Center, students should maintain the rules of computers’ proper usage, for example, computers should be shut down after using them.
  8. Do not move school laptops outside school boundaries.
  9. Any digital storage drives should be scanned before attaching them to Center’s computers using antivirus software.

 

  • The Rules of Using the Printed Materials at Learning Resources Center:
  • Do not write in the Center’s books and other printed material.
  • Do not eat or drink while reading.
  • Avoid causing damage to the Center’s books and other printed materials or folding them. Printed materials should be handled carefully.
  • Put the books and other printed materials back on the shelf correctly.
  • Loan period is the same for students and teachers.

 

  • Rules of Book Borrowing:
  • Students should register their names in the record of ‘Internal and External Borrowers’ at borrowing. In addition, they should read the rules of borrowing and adhere to them.
  • Each student shall have a ‘Borrowing Form’.
  • Follow-up the announcements screen to know about new additions to the Center, whether books or otherwise.
  • Follow-up the instructions boards displayed in the library, to know the correct methods of dealing the books and other printed materials.
  • Ensure that the borrowed books are in sound condition at returning them to the library.
  • Preserving the non-printed materials (audio and video materials). Such materials should be returned in a timely manner.
  • Non-printed materials shall not be borrowed outside school boundaries, only inside the school.
  • Adhere to the rules of proper usage of audio/video display devices.
  • These devices should be used carefully because they are fragile.
  • It is prohibited to use library devices in displaying any filmed material  that does not belong to the center without permission from the librarian.
  • If you need help, do not hesitate to ask the librarian.
  • The tape should be wrapped from the beginning after finishing using it.
  • Headsets should be used when listening to audio material to preserve the quiet atmosphere. Ensure that the device is shut down after finishing using it.
  • Audio/Video materials should not taken outside the Center without permission from the librarian.
  • In case the student violated any of the Center’s rules and regulations, s/he will be deprived from entering the center and receiving its services.

 

  • Rules of Using Computers At the Center:
  1. Every member of the school community is eligible to use the computers available at the Center.
  2. It is not allowed to insert and view floppy discs and compact discs that do not belong to the center on the center’s computers.
  3. Students should not come to the center in case that they have a class related to the curriculum or the skills.
  4. Transferring any devices outside the center’s boundaries is prohibited.
